FASTER flushes are on the way at toilets in a historic Borders building.
It can currently take up to four or five minutes before the toilets at the Burgh Hall in Peebles flush.
When members of the Chambers Institution Trust met on Tuesday, October 29, they were told that some people using the toilets were “struggling to cope”.
Council officer Gareth Smith said: “I met the plumber on site last week and I got an estimate today to improve that.”
Members were relieved that the cost of carrying out the work was only £600 and agreed to endorse it.
“I thought it was going to be a huge figure. Let’s crack on with that,” said meeting chair Robin Tatler, a councillor for Tweeddale East.
