HIGH quality treated water is in the pipeline within the Borders after approval was granted for a new pumping station.
Scottish Borders Council has rubber-stamped an application from Scottish Water for the new facility to be located in the corner of an arable field to the east of the A1107 Coldingham tourist road in East Berwickshire and the south of the local road to Old Cambus.
As part of the current investment period, Scottish Water has identified the need to install a treated water pumping (TWP) station at the location.
A report submitted with the application states: “The installation of the TWP will be replacing the existing underground TWP. The proposed development is required to ensure that there is a continued supply of high–quality treated water.
“The new kiosk and fencing will be sited at the south-western edge of the boundary along the edge of the country road. The site is currently an agricultural holding and the new structures will be sited in the south west corner of the field.
“The proposed development will facilitate the maintenance of high–quality treated water in the Scottish Borders. The proposal will be replacing existing infrastructure, ensuring a more accessible and sustainable TWP is placed on site.”
