A council planning application hearing about residential flats in the grounds of a listed building has been rescheduled.

The application regarding the wording change for a condition tied to the development of residential apartments in the grounds of Kingsmeadows House, Peebles, will now be considered on December 9.

This follows the cancellation of the November meeting by the Scottish Borders Council planning and building standards committee.

The application had initially been deferred in June, halting the usual procedures like presentations, public speaking, and debates.

Contrary to previous communication, the council has confirmed that the public will have the opportunity to make verbal representations at the meeting in December.

A letter from Barry Fotheringham, lead planning officer, stated: "I apologise for this administrative error and for any confusion or misunderstanding this may have caused."

The council has clarified that individuals who have already sent in written comments regarding this application will be able to speak at the meeting.

These individuals will be informed ahead of the meeting about how to register their intention to speak to the committee.

The council’s policies on public speaking will be adhered to, with a total of six minutes allocated to those supporting and objecting to the proposals.

The planning application in question seeks to modify the wording of a condition in the planning permission granted in 2021 under the reference 19/00182/PPP.

This permission was for the erection of residential apartments in the grounds of Kingsmeadows House.

The meeting will take place at the Scottish Borders Council headquarters.

Members of the public can watch the meeting live or later on the council's website.
