A 27-YEAR-OLD man who subjected a neighbour to racist abuse has been ordered to pay the woman £100 in compensation.
Anton Bridges pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at his former home in Broom Drive, in Galashiels, in May.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told he had been playing loud music and when the woman appeared in the garden around 3pm he made an offensive comment about her being from Poland and told her to go back to her own country.
When the loud music continued at 11pm the neighbours eventually called the police.
Bridges, now living in Selkirk, was also given 90 hours of unpaid work and placed on supervision for six months.
