A DENHOLM man who admitted two offences has been ordered to pay a total of £740 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Fifty-two-year-old Rory Murray pleaded guilty to sending offensive messages and also damaging the door of a property.
After reading a background report, Sheriff Peter Paterson accepted Murray had come to an “erroneous conclusion” about what the other man was doing during the incident and that Murray was not a person who normally gets into trouble.
Murray was fined £400 for the offensive messages and £200 for the vandalism to the door with a £40 victim surcharge.
He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to Scottish Borders Housing Association for the damage to the door.
