AN INNERLEITHEN man was found in possession of cannabis and heroin after a vehicle was stopped on the A72 at Clovenfords, Selkirk Sheriff Court has been told.
Fifty-two-year-old Stephen Scougall, of Caddon Court, pleaded guilty to two offences which were committed on January 20 last year.
Prosecutor India McLean said the time of the offence was 6pm when police officers stopped a vehicle and searched it.
She added cannabis and heroin for personal use were found on Scougall.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had been a passenger in the vehicle.
Scougall said he thought the heroin was a legal high drug.
He added he was using the drugs as pain killers.
But Sheriff Peter Anderson told him although he may find some therapeutic benefits from the drugs he reminded him they were illegal.
Scougall was fined £400 with a £20 victim surcharge.
