A GALASHIELS man who admitted a drink driving offence by being more than three times the alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 14 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Logan Todd, who is 26, pleaded guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol count of 75 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22.

He also admitted a second charge of obstructing police by running away from his vehicle when it was pulled in.

Prosecutor India McLean said police officers were on mobile patrol at 11.30pm and their attention was attracted towards Todd’s car.

She continued: ”They pulled his vehicle in but he then exited the car. There was a short chase and he was apprehended. There was a strong smell of alcohol from him.”

Todd told the court he had made a silly mistake and stopped running when he realised what he was doing was wrong.

In addition to the disqualification period, he was fined £300 for drink driving with another £150 fine for obstructing the police.
