A 46-YEAR-OLD man who exposed his genitals in a sexual manner in front of five young children in a Borders park has had his name placed on the sex offenders register for five years at Selkirk Sheriff Court. 

Elroy McArthur pleaded guilty to the charge involving the youngsters who were all under 13 years old and one girl as young as 10.

The offence happened in Victoria Park, Innerleithen, on June 25 last year. 

McArthur, who gave an address care of an Edinburgh hotel, was given a community payback order as an alternative to custody.

He was placed on supervision for months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
