ST Ronan’s Border Games Week is over for another year – and what a week it was.

Looking back on this year’s celebrations, Standard Bearer 2024 Rory Murray shared that the week was full of unforgettable moments.

He said: “For me Games Week exceeded any expectations that I had for the week.

“Emily [Anderson] and myself felt extremely fortunate to get the majority of Games week ceremonies with dry weather which added to the experience and atmosphere for all involved.

“Personally my favourite event of the week was the Cleikum Ceremonies, the night in which I was installed as Standard Bearer of my native town Innerleithen for 2024.

“The feeling of grasping the blue banner is something I truly cannot put into words.

“Holding aloft the flag at the front of the stage, as Raise high the banner rung around the hall is a moment I’ll never forget.

“I would personally like to thank all fellow residents of Innerleithen and surrounding areas for your amazing support throughout the full week.”

Thankfully for both Standard Bearer Murray and his Lass Emily Anderson and their fellow principals, it was a mostly dry week, with a few showers on Games Day.

Lass Emily shared that it was a “fantastic” week.

She said: “It exceeded all expectations and there are no words to describe it.

“It really is better felt than telt.

“A main highlight was being up on the stage on the Friday night Bussin’ the colours on the Standard Bearer’s banner.

“A massive thank you to every single person who have supported us and cheered us all on.

“The weather on Saturday night was unfortunate but didn’t stop people from coming out in their droves and the atmosphere was amazing.”
