A HAWICK man who admitted threatening behaviour on a public service bus has been fined £250 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Twenty-six-year-old Jago Neil, of Galalaw Road, pleaded guilty to making offensive remarks and threats of violence during the journey between Selkirk and Hawick on June 19.
Depute fiscal India McLean said the complainer boarded the bus bound for Hawick at 2.20pm while Neil also got on with his partner and sat next to the man.
Neil started calling the man names and told him he would beat him up next time he saw him.
The driver heard the commotion and other passengers were alarmed by Neil’s behaviour and police were called.
They were waiting for the bus when it entered Wilton Hill and Neil was arrested.
Sheriff Ian Anderson told Neil his behaviour had been “rude and offensive” and had caused a lot of people distress.
In addition to the £250 fine, a £20 victim surcharge was added.
