A NEW Borders Top Up Tap has already welcomed hundreds of visitors since its launch last week.
On Friday, July 12 Scottish Water launched its latest Top Up Tap on the High Street in Eyemouth – marking the 124th tap installed in Scotland.
Hundreds of Eyemouth locals and visitors stopped by the beachfront Top Up Tap where volunteers handed out 250 reusable water bottles in a bid to encourage plastic reduction.
Local businesses have also welcomed the new tap.
Michael Howes-Quintero, who owns Rialto Coffee, said: “The water in our taps here is like God’s Champagne, it really is first class."
The Top Up Taps form part of Scottish Water's 'Your Water, Your Life' campaign.
The publicly-owned utility company has committed to installing the refill stations far and wide.
Scottish Water shared that 76 per cent of Scots carry a refillable water bottle while out and about, making the water refill taps an in-demand service for those wanting to cut back on their reliance on single-use plastic bottle.
To date, Scottish Water's Top Up Taps have dispensed the volume of more than 10 million bottles of tap water.
Other Borders Top Up Taps can be found in:
