AN OFFICE building in Selkirk could be returning back to the future with a bid to convert it into a home again.

A planning change of use application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council for alterations to form a dwelling house from office accommodation at The Hermitage in the High Street.

A submission with the application, from Edinburgh-based Allied Surveyors Scotland, says: “Our proposal is to return The Hermitage back to a single residential dwelling. At this stage our application is purely for change of use.

“It will then be for a future owner to make an application to SBC for any additional consents which may be required, depending on the extent of any works that may be considered in future.

“The property was originally a manse and dates from circa 1810. The property has been in office use for several years, but is no longer required by the current owners, as they are in the process of relocating their business to the Market Square.

“It is therefore considered that the most appropriate use for the building is to return it to its original use, as a single residential property.”
