WALKERBURN has celebrated another successful Summer Festival Week.

Running from Sunday, June 23 to Saturday, June 28, there was a great turnout for the range of events across the week.

It began with sunshine for the bike race and barbecue.

And despite the grey skies for the remainder of the week, the local community still came together to enjoy this year's activities.

A festival spokesperson said: "2024 was another fantastic year for the annual Walkerburn Summer Festival.

"Starting off with a Bike Race along the multi-use path, the children were treated to a barbecue at the Henry Ballantyne Club while enjoying the rare sunshine that would elude the festival for the remainder of the week.

"Next was the installation of the Walkerburn Principals on the Monday as the 2024 Essay Winner and Festival Lass who were led by piper to the Village Hall.

"Threatening clouds and rain in the morning on the following Friday didn't frighten away patrons from the fancy dress parade – and thankfully the weather held off as the village showed off their costumes lead by the Innerleithen Silver Band along Tweedholm Avenue.

"The evening continued with live music in the park followed by a torchlight procession to ignite the bonfire and settle in for a lovely fireworks display.

"Sports followed on the Saturday in the Park with lots of activities e including a five-a-side football tournament and the chance to visit with some Alpacas who delighted many children and adults alike.

"Finally, the festival concluded on the Sunday with the Annual Boat Race hosted by the Henry Ballantyne club once again with lots of food on offer as well as a dominoes tournament and festival raffle draw."
