THE kids are alright at an out of school club in Galashiels, inspectors have concluded.

A representative of the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to the Burgh Out of School Club, based at Burgh Primary School, on May 28.

The service provides care to a maximum of 22 children between the ages of four to 14.

The key messages were that children are “happy, confident and settled” in the service and benefited from access to outdoors play.

The service also has skilled staff who work together well.

Overall, the service was rated ‘good’ in four categories – the quality of care, play and learning, for leadership, its setting and staff team.

The report states: “Staff were kind and respectful in their approach with the children, taking time to speak to the children at their level. One parent commented: ‘I find the staff approachable when needing to ask them questions’.”
