THE ownership of a historic Peebles pub has changed hands.
The Cross Keys is now managed by local couple Steven Colquhoun and Jenna Whitson after it was bought from JD Wetherspoon.
With more than 40 years’ worth of combined experience in the hospitality industry, the couple are keen to bring the Northgate bar back into the heart of the community.
It was built in 1693 as a town mansion by Walter Williamson of Cardrona and has strong links to famous Scottish novelist Sir Walter Scott.
It has been opened and closed many times over the years and was bought by Wetherspoon back in 2011.
The chain spent £2.2 million redeveloping the town’s oldest inn between 2012 and 2014.
It then put the L-shaped building on the market for £600,000 in November 2022.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon confirmed that the site was “under offer” in March.
