A PEEBLESSHIRE dance committee has revealed that £20,000 will be donated to 16 cancer charities after a successful fundraising campaign.
Broughton Farmers Dance Committee recently held its AGM where they confirmed the grand total.
Its annual charity dance, held in Broughton Village Hall in January, involved a live auction. That was in addition to its online auction which ran on the week running up to the dance and attracted bids from across the United Kingdom.
A raffle also took place and received numerous donations from the local community.
A committee spokesperson said: “We could not achieve this amazing amount without the continued support of everyone who donates auction or raffle prizes and to everyone who bids or buys these items. We also must thank everyone who came along to the dance and made it such an enjoyable night.
“In 2025 we will be celebrating our 60th year and the committee are already planning our next charity dance and auction.”
The charities which will benefit include Maggie’s; Beatson Cancer Charity; Marie Curie; BGH Cancer Ward; The Lavender Touch; and The Margaret Kerr Unit.
