SQUADRON leader Clive Hamilton received a 20-year Long Service Medal for his unwavering service to SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity.
The medal and certificate was presented by Prof Sir Hew Strachan, who is the Lord Lieutenant Tweeddale and SSAFA Borders branch president, at its AGM on April 17 in Galashiels.
During Clive’s 20 years’ service, a conservative estimate is that more than 500 veterans and their families have benefited from his assistance.
Adrian Lucas, chairman of SSAFA Borders branch said, “Clive Hamilton’s dedication to each veteran and their family is outstanding.
“His determination to meet the individuals every need in either financial terms, or providing goods, home improvements such as access or a combination of all three is unwavering until he is satisfied that all the client needs are fully met.
“Of particular note is Clive’s kindness when helping those who cannot always help themselves.
“He is a true example of what SSAFA strives to be – by helping those who have served us and our country.”
Clive lives in Peebles and, in addition to SSAFA, he volunteers for many other local charities.
