THE surface of a popular Peebles path has been branded “dangerous” due to its “terrible surface”.
Peebles Community Council (PCC) member Allan Mackenzie said: “The footpath on the south side of the river, from Tweed Bridge to Fotheringham Bridge, needs urgent attention.
“It needs thousands of pounds to be spent.”
Tweeddale East councillor Robin Tatler said that in the ongoing Destination Tweed works the north side path is due to be upgraded from the Gytes to Fotheringham Bridge.
PCC member Malcolm Bruce said: “The south side path is borderline dangerous.”
Tweeddale East councillor Julie Pirone said: “Perhaps there could be some patch repairs.”
Scottish Borders Council was contacted for comment.
