A POPULAR Innerleithen café is up for yet another prestigious gong.
Loulabelles is no stranger to accolades having picked up the Scottish Business Awards Best Eatery in the Borders and the Best Eatery in Scotland titles in 2021.
Last year it was awarded a much sought-after Blue Rosette from the Good Food Awards, which has just been retained for another 12 months.
And earlier this year it won the Best Café in the Borders title at the Scottish Business Regional Awards.
That victory qualified Loulabelles for entry into the Best Café in Scotland category in the Scottish Business National Awards.
The ceremony is due to take place at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow later this month.
Loulabelles specialises in home baking and also caters for the vegan and gluten-free market although most customers opt for their famous Bakewell tarts.
And it’s not just the regulars that love these tarts; a certain Dame Prue Leith recently gave her stamp of approval.
The café is owned and run by Louise Cumming and her partner Philip Ashcroft.
The pair moved to the town nine years ago partly due to the mountain biking facilities available in the area.
And they love life in the Borders.
They made the lifestyle choice to open the shop in 2018 and it has grown into a successful business.
Louise said: “The year 2023 so far has been a challenging year for all hospitality businesses and we are no different.
“We are very thankful for how well supported we are and it really means a lot to be nominated for these awards and we have now recently retained our Blue Rosette for the second year.

“Another momentous occasion for us this year has been meeting Dame Prue Leith while we were out with our mobile coffee and cake stand at the Beyond Borders Festival. To add to our accolades, we can now say our Bakewell tarts are Prue approved.

"Awards like these do make all the hard work worthwhile, and we hope to continue what we're doing for a number of years yet."
The business awards are based on mystery shopping, independent research as well as a public votes, so some extra votes could make all the difference.
