THE seven new electric charging points at Tweedbank Service Station are now fully operational.
And many customers are already taking advantage of the 24-hour opening.
The station which includes a Greggs, a Budgens and a Costa Coffee is run by the Motor Fuel Group (MFG) the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator.
It opened on August 10 but to the disappointment of many locals the much anticipated charging points were unavailable to customers.
But they finally became operational last week and have been regularly utilised by local residents many of whom liked the announcement on social media.
MFG chargers operate on a pay-as-you-go basis and drivers can pay with a contactless payment card or with the MFG Connect App.
The company say that their aim is to ensure maximum availability of chargers and minimum wait times and drivers can charge their vehicles for as long or as little as they like, there is no minimum charge time.
A 10-minute charge will provide approximately 25kWh, which is equivalent to 100 miles range at a battery efficiency of 4 miles per kWh.
