A WAREHOUSE operator who drove while almost four times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for three years at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Thirty-five-year-old Agnis Chuiko pleaded guilty to the offence which happened in Eyemouth in April 2021.

Prosecutor India McLean said police came across the vehicle at around 3.30pm and saw Chuiko asleep in the driver’s seat, the key in the ignition and the engine running with beer cans lying inside the car.

She continued: “He was taken to Hawick Police Station where he became aggressive with officers saying he was going to get them.

“He was making threats towards them.”

Chuiko, from Dudley in the West Midlands, provided a breath/test and had a reading of 73 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22.

He was charged with drink-driving and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Sheriff Kevin McCarron banned him for three years due to a previous drink-drive conviction and fined him £300 with a £20 victim surcharge.

Chuiko was admonished on the second charge as he had already spent time in custody in connection with the matter.
