Parts of the Scottish Borders will be affected by a yellow weather warning for heavy rain which commences at 6pm tonight Tuesday September 20 and runs through to 8am tomorrow Wednesday September 21.
The affected areas include the A7 road around Hawick.

The Met Office says that outbreaks of rain will become persistent and heavy at times and the heavy rain may lead to some flooding and disruption to travel.

Drivers should expect increased stopping distances, increased journey times and reduced visibility.

Other parts of the country are also affected and forecasters predict that the rain will clear the southwest Highlands in the early hours but linger across parts of southern Scotland.
20 to 40mm of rain is likely to fall widely with as much as 60mm over high ground.
