A DATE has been given for the long-awaited reopening of Peebles Swimming Pool.
The treasured facility has been shut for more than a year after a fire damaged the building on June 19, 2022.
Last month the bill for repairing the pool was revealed as £1.133 million.
Tweeddale East and West councillors were recently given a walk round of the improvements which were part of the works.
Posting on social media, Tweeddale West representative Drummond Begg said that the better insulation, a new energy efficient boiler and solar panels are all part of “future-proofing this important Tweeddale resource”.
Tweeddle East councillor Julie Pirone said: “It’s not just a new roof and solar panels.
“The pool has had a complete refresh inside and a new plant room to make it super efficient.
“Thanks to all those working around the clock to get the work completed. Get ready for the grand opening on August 7.”
