GALA Fairydean Rovers are through to the final of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot out victory over Kinnoull in Perthshire yesterday April 30 2022.
Two goals from striker Zander Murray who last week signed a new contract at the club and a double from Liam ‘Jinky’ Campbell secured a 4-4 draw after extra time.
And it was the Gala players who held their nerve to win the penalty shoot out in front of a dedicated band of followers from the Borders.
Gala’s run to the final included victories over Rosyth, Tweedmouth Rangers, Bathgate Thistle, Lowland League Champions Bonnyrigg Rose and Dundonald Bluebell.
Now Martin Scott’s side face Linlithgow Rose who beat the University of Stirling 5-1 in the other semi-final.
The date and venue of the final have still to be announced.
The match report including the thoughts of Scott will be in the Border Telegraph’s paper edition next week.
