Road maintenance company BEAR Scotland has delivered almost £38,000 to 28 charity and community initiatives throughout Scotland in the last 12 months.
These include Hawick High School and Selkirk Community Planters.
During 2021, BEAR donated over £15,000 to its long-standing charity partners including the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, Cash for Kids, SAMH, and RBLI, as a result of various initiatives from a corporate charity golf tournament to sponsoring fundraising challenges as well as corporate donations.
Joanna Buggy, BEAR Scotland Engagement Manager, leads the company’s dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility team and says: “This achievement is testament to BEAR’s commitment to deliver a positive footprint within the communities where we operate. This has been achieved as a result of a combination of employee engagement, supplier fundraising and corporate donations. It is very much a team effort that we’re very proud of.”
In addition to this, in 2021 BEAR employees voted on one national charity partner for the year as well as six regional charity partners.
Scottish Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) benefited from a £5,800 boost thanks to various fundraising efforts including the KiltWalk, 100 miles in October and Christmas Jumper Day.
Each of the nominated regional charities were awarded a £1,000 corporate donation. These causes included Perth Autism Support, Steps to Hope, International Otter Survival Fund, Highland Hospice, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and Lochaber Mountain Rescue, Bathgate Thistle Youth Football Club, Plastic Free Fife, Queensferry Pipe Band, Kingussie Christmas Light Fund, Murrayburn Nursery, Five in a Row - 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge raising funds for Reverse Rett.
