INNERLEITHEN was aglow with Christmas cheer last weekend as Switched On Saturday saw the town illuminated.
The event saw crowds gather along the High Street where they could enjoy all that local businesses had to offer ahead of the lights being turned on by Standard Bearer Ronan Caine at 4pm.
Businesses around the town opened their doors to welcome customers in with festive treats – including mulled wine, mince pies, and hot chestnuts.
There was also music thanks to performances throughout the day from St Ronan’s Silver Band and Tweedvale Pipe Band.
And youngsters could meet Father Christmas at The Vale Club, as well as decorating their own Christmas baubles at Solo Gallery or getting a glitter tattoo from Inner Beauty.
At a meeting of Innerleithen Community Council on Monday (December 6) councillor Shona Haslam, who represents Tweeddale East for the Conservatives, said: “The switched on event was absolutely fantastic.
“Not that I could possibly comment, but the Innerleithen lights look amazing as always.”
Chairman of the meeting Marshall Douglas added his congratulations to the Civic Association who organised the lights.
He said: “I think many people locally might well think Innerleithen’s lights are the best in the Borders.”
