THE Borders has recorded more coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, new data shows.
According to figures released at 2pm today (August 19) by the Scottish Government, the Borders has recorded 70 new cases of COVID-19 in a 24-hour period.
The total number of positive cases in the Borders since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,946.
The region has also reported 14 people in hospital with confirmed coronavirus in this period – a reduction of two patients from yesterday (August 18).

However, for the week between August 9-15 no deaths related to COVID-19 were recorded in the region.
The week prior to this (August 2-8) recorded three deaths in the Borders where coronavirus had been listed on the death certificate.
Nationally there have been 373,143 positive cases of COVID-19 since March 2020.
And across Scotland there are 317 people in hospital with the virus.
