PGA PROFESSIONAL Ailsa Murphy is returning to her Peebles roots after spending an enjoyable seven years at Gullane Golf Club as professional and she will be available for lessons from July 19.
Ailsa studied Professional Golf at Elmwood College and started her PGA Pro career at Cardrona in Peebles where she won the Club Championship twice, County (Borders) Championship, The Scottish Girls Championship and represented Scotland in the Home Internationals before taking up her post at Gullane.
“I’m very excited to be back home working alongside the pro Steve Johnson. ” Ailsa said. “ I have many happy memories and know the course like the back of my hand which is an advantage. I was up at the driving range the other day with my two boys, Reuben (three-years-old) and Eden (three-months-old) and it was just amazing. Peebles is such a nice golf course.
“I loved every minute of my seven years at Gullane which was life changing for me but I really needed to get back due to my busy family life with the boys. Unfortunately I don’t get to play as often as I’d like but Reuben has started to take an interest so that might help. I put the clubs away when I had the boys which is understandable but it’s definitely something I’d like to get back into although I might not compete at the same level.
“The aim is to work two days a week depending on the number of lessons booked but I can do evenings or just tie in when required.”
