Professor Robert Boyd Peacefully, in Vancouver, Canada on 18th August, Robert (Bob) Boyd. Bob was born in Peebles in 1938, son of George Boyd, classics teacher and Elizabeth Kinnear Boyd, maths teacher at Peebles High School and brother of Isobel (deceased), Elizabeth, Hazel and Colin. In 1949, he was chief courtier at Peebles Beltane. After graduating from St Andrews University, Bob emigrated to Canada where he had an illustrious career becoming a world-renowned expert on Mass Spectrometry. He was a devoted husband to Dianna, a much loved father to John, father-in-law to Niki and proud grandfather to Ruby and Kieran, He will be sadly missed by his family in Canada, Edinburgh, London and Shetland.
